Leader in Me

At Foster Elementary Charter School, leadership isn’t an extra activity—it’s woven into everything we do. Through the Leader in Me framework, students learn to lead with confidence, kindness, and purpose. Grounded in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, Leader in Me equips children with essential life skills such as goal-setting, problem-solving, collaboration, and personal responsibility.

What makes our approach unique is how leadership shows up every day: in Leader Launch, classroom roles, student-led initiatives, service opportunities, and celebrations of student voice. Every child—every day—is seen as a leader.

Leader in Me helps us bring our mission to life: empowering every student to lead with confidence, compassion, and purpose in a community where all belong. It complements our vision that every student grows as a learner and leader—ready to contribute to their community and beyond.

At Foster, students don’t just learn about leadership—they live it.

Where Every Student is a Leader

At Foster, leadership is more than a lesson—it’s a way of life. As the only school in the Appleton Area School District implementing the Leader in Me framework, grounded in Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Foster empowers students to discover their potential, build confidence, and develop lifelong leadership skills.

With a strong global leadership focus, students learn the importance of diversity, civic engagement, kindness, and compassion through meaningful recognition and real-world inspiration from local leaders who share their stories through our Global Leader Speaker Series.
