Camp

6th grade students attend a two day field trip in the fall to Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, a YMCA camp located near Suring, Wisconsin. Each year, the 6th grade class participates in student led fundraising activities to reduce camp fees for all. Students experience a wide variety of curriculum-connected environmental education and team building activities at camp, taught by camp staff and supported by Foster 6th grade teachers and parent chaperones.

Chess Club

Students in grades 4-6 meet during lunch and recess one day a week, October through April. Some join to refine and practice their existing chess skills, others to learn this challenging, ancient game of strategy. Meetings support a low key, collaborative learning environment. Student run tournaments are offered each semester. Mrs. Buche supervises Chess Club.

Cub Scouts

A program that provides learning experiences for boys in grades 1-5, including several camping activities.

Doodle Club

Doodle Club gives students in grades 4-6 an opportunity to meet once a week during a lunch period. Students enjoy the freedom of doodling/drawing at their leisure surrounded by their peers who share the same interest and enthusiasm. Creative work is shared and showcased by an auction at the end of each semester.

Fitness Club

Students in grades K-6 can participate in run/walks and physical activities which help develop healthy habits. Foster hosts the Annual Healthy Family Walk/Run and takes place at the beginning of the school year.  It is a great family event that is allows people to meet the Foster Community and get some great exercise!

Knitting Club

Students in grades 4-6 meet during lunch and recess one day a week, October through April. Many who join already have some needle art experience, while others join to try out this practical skill. Crocheting, weaving, etc., are also often explored, based on student interest. Knitters learn to make their own knitting needles, and can craft gifts for family and friends. Knitting can teach persistence and problem solving, and builds fine motor skill along with self-confidence. Mrs. Buche supervises Knitting Club.

Reading Club

Foster’s Reading Club is open to all students grades 1-6. Our Reading Club allows students a place to practice their reading skills which will help build their love for reading. Students choose books which peak their interests. Students meet once a week during lunch.

Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol is comprised of responsible, respectful and civic minded students who volunteer to assist in keeping Foster Elementary students safe as they transition to and home from school each day.

Service Club

The Foster Service Club provides an opportunity for students to be involved in the operation of their school. It provides students the chance to develop leadership skills. The focus is on planning and promoting activities that foster school spirit as well as providing school and community services. The Service Club meets regularly during lunch and is supervised by Miss Kimball.
